The Benefits of Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Manual Lymphatic Drainage is a gentle massage technique specially focused on supporting the functions of the lymphatic system.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage has a powerful effect on the nervous system, facilitating healing for a wide range of conditions from neuropathy to Traumatic Brain Injuries.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage can be used to treat the entire body or localized to a particular area

Manual Lymphatic Drainage encourages absorption of lymphatic fluid. The gentle stretching of the skin acts in the anchoring filaments of the lymphatic capillaries located in the interstitium, increasing the rate of movement of interstitial fluid into the lymphatic system.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage enhances movement of fluid in the lymph collectors. As a result of absorption, increasing the lymphatic load increases and creates an increase in lymph volume within the collectors. The collectors then respond to the accumulation of fluid by amplifying the frequency of lymphangion concentrations(lymphangio pulsation).

Manual Lymphatic Drainage calms the Nervous System. The slow rhythmic nature of Manual Lymphatic Drainage decreases the sympathetic nervous response and activates the parasympathetic, nervous response, creating a calming, soothing effect. Since 2018 our practice has worked with dozens of cases of TBI, PTS, chronic pain and other neurological disorders and our clients have experienced life changing results using our Lymphatic Care System and Manual Lymphatic Drainage Protocol.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage relieves pain by enhancing the removal of nociceptive substances for the tissues while providing a stimulus for gate control theory which in tandem change the way pain signals are transmitted to the brain.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage and the redirection of Lymphatic Fluid

The Lymphatic Systems transport capacity can be compromised or deteriorate as a result of trauma, surgery, or general wear and tear. If the movement of lymphatic fluid is interrupted lymphedema can occur

Lymphatic Stasis can create a dermal thickening as protein rich fluid causes inflammatory responses and scar formation within the interstitium. When applied correctly Manual Lymphatic Drainage can remove the fluid from the tissue and away from the blocked or scarred area and direct it toward a healthy uncompromised region of the lymphatic system.
